To download AlphAI software, a minimum of 3GB of available storage is required on your device.
To download our software, simply go to the following section: Resources > Software > Download
No, there is no technical maintenance that could affect the software user experience. New features are added during software updates (an internet connection is required) when a new version is available.
Software problems
Yes, it is possible to use the software without updating it to the latest version.
It is not yet possible to download AlphAI to a Chromebook. However, if you're interested in this feature, we can provide you with more information by contacting us via our contact form.
If you're using Chrome or Edge: It's important to check that the software has downloaded in its entirety (i.e. that the download bar has reached the required number of megabytes). Once the download is complete, a "security" message will appear, such as "AlphAI -1.9.0 setup.exe is not free...". Click on the three dots to the right of the message, then click on "Keep". Another message will then appear to verify that you trust AlphAI. Click on "Show more" or on the downward-pointing arrow to the right of "Show more". Finally, all you have to do is click on "Save as" to make the software file accessible (it will then say "Open file" below the version you've just downloaded).
Yes, it is possible to use the software without an Internet connection. An internet connection is only required for the first connection to activate your software authentication key and to update the software.
Updates
The AlphAI software update takes about 1 minute. Once this minute has elapsed, the software will launch automatically.
Software updates are not issued at regular intervals and may vary according to the need for corrections and improvements.
To update the software, your device must be connected to the Internet. When a software update is available, you will be prompted to download it when the software starts up. Once you've been prompted, simply accept to start the software download and update.
Licenses
Once you've received your license, it's valid immediately, and there's no deadline for first use.
Your license is valid for life on the software version available at the time of purchase.
The first time you use AlphAI software, you'll need to choose the type of robot for which you've purchased the license (AlphAI, Mbot, Spike, Thymio, etc.). Once you've done this, you'll be asked for your "activation key", which you can use to enter your license number (in the format XXX-XXX-XXX). Then register the activation key by checking the corresponding box. ATTENTION: AN INTERNET CONNECTION is REQUIRED for the first use to activate your key.
Choose a level of autonomy, an algorithm, the sensors and actions you want to use, ... and invent your own activity!
You can also start from an example configuration and then customize it.
Hardware problems
At times, you may need to remove and replace the batteries to ensure that the robot works properly.
If the robot still doesn't work, write to us describing the problem you've encountered, and telling us what steps you've taken on your side, via the contact form on our site. Our team will get back to you as soon as possible.
Once you've switched on and connected your robot, click on the robot icon. A message often appears on the screen when an update is available. In this case, please accept the update. The robot will restart and be ready for use. There's another way to update your robot. Once you've launched the software, switched on your robot and connected it to the wifi network, you'll need to go to the "Tools" menu in the top left-hand corner, then click on "Update robot". The robot will restart and be ready for use.
If you encounter this problem, it's probably due to an error or a change of color in the software's visualization section. To change this, simply go to visualization (in the main interface for manipulating your robot) on the left-hand side. Click on the drop-down menu and select the color corresponding to your robot.
To connect your robot via Bluetooth, the process is simpler than with Wi-Fi, but the connection and robot responsiveness will be much less. Here's how: please switch on your robot and wait 1 minute for it to start. Once started, the robot will appear with its number and a Bluetooth logo on the software's home page (blue page). Click on it to access the final interface.
To connect your robot to wifi, there are several steps to follow: Please switch on your robot and wait 1 minute for it to start up. Click on the wifi logo at the bottom right of your computer (as if you were connecting to a wifi network). Now find your robot's associated number "ALPHAI-00XXXX". If my robot's number is ABCD, then my robot's network will be "ALPHAI-00ABCD".) You'll be asked for a password, the name of your robot. For example, if your robot's name is "ALPHAI-00ABCD", the network password will be "ALPHAI-00ABCD". Once you've done this, your robot's number will appear with the wifi logo on the software interface. Click on it to connect and enter the final interface.
You can only connect one robot at a time to a single PC. Whether via wifi or bluetooth. Your AlphAI robot license (required to use the software and robots) allows you to connect an infinite number of different robots, but not simultaneously. Example: I have a single PC for 3 robots. Once I've finished using the first robot, I disconnect and switch it off. I can then switch on the second one, connect it and use it until it runs out of battery. Then turn on the third, use it and so on.
